Stanley Cup Finals: Top 20 Players with the Most Stanley Cups
Posted by Vin Getz
Sports List of the Day has already taken a look at players with the most championships in baseball and basketball – lists dominated by the New York Yankees and Boston Celtics, respectively.
The Montreal Canadiens play that role in the NHL. Only 6 of the 25 players listed below did not play for the Canadiens.
Where’s the Great One? Wayne Gretzky only had four cups to his credit. He left for the L.A. Kings before the Edmonton Oilers won it in 1990 and came to the New York Rangers after they had won it in 1994.

Jacques Lapperrière won the Stanley Cup 6 times too: 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1973
Thank you for the excellent comment. Clearly you know your hockey. I went back to investigate. I’m going to say you are correct, even though many official listings have Lapperriere at 5 Cups. In 1965-66, he was injured throughout the season (though did play 57 games) – and missed the entire playoffs. The Canadiens went on to win the Cup without him. But, Laperriere also won defenseman of the year that season. And I think that definitely counts. He’s a critical member of the team that won the Cup. That’s how other sports, baseball as an example, do it. I updated the chart to include JL. Thanks.
charlie hodge?
Hodge won 1 cup with the 1965 Canadiens. Thanks for the comment.
