Charles Barkley says the “NBA needs a miracle to avoid a lockout. (Jun. 30, 2011)”  Already, we’re in the midst of an NFL lockout,  And guess what?  The MLB and NHL are not far behind.  Their CBA’s expire on Dec. 11, 2011 and Sep. 15, 2012, respectively.

Adalbert over at AMOG.com put together a complete look at all the lockouts and strikes that have struck the four major American sports.

2. 1973 Lockout (Feb. 8 – 25)

3. 1976 Lockout (Mar. 1 – 17)

4. 1980 Strike (Apr. 1 – 8 )

5. 1981 Strike  (Jun. 12 – Aug. 9)

6. 1985 Strike  (Aug. 6 – 7)

7. 1990 Lockout (Feb. 15 – Mar. 18)

8. 1994-95 Strike (Aug. 12, 1994 – Apr. 2, 1995)

NFL

1. 1982 Strike (Sep. 20 – Nov 16)

2. 1987 Strike (Sep. 15 – Oct. 15)

3. 2011 Lockout (Mar. 11 – present)

NBA

1. 1995 Lockout (Jul. 1 – Sep. 12)

2. 1996 Lockout (Jul. 1)

3. 1998-99 Lockout (Jul. 1, 1998 – Jan. 20, 1999)

NHL

1. 1992 Strike (Apr. 1 – 10)

2. 1994-95 Lockout (Oct. 1, 1994 – Jan. 11, 1995)

3. 2004-05 Lockout (Sep. 16, 2004 – Jul. 22, 2005)

  2. Wow! Nine lockouts, eight strikes. Only five years service to get a pension. A $350,000 minimum salary in MLB. They’re doing better than movie stars. What the hell do they want and where does it end?
