Major League Baseball: Pitchers with the Most Cy Young Awards

Roger Clemens has won the most Cy Young Awards in baseball history – 7 -  but the cloud of steroids hangs over this accomplishment.

Randy Johnson has been untainted by the steroid scandal.  He’s next, with 5.

The Cy Young was first awarded in 1956.  There was only one award given for both leagues between 1956 and 1966.  Don Newcombe of the Brooklyn Dodgers won the first Cy Young award.

In 1967, MLB began awarding two Cy Youngs – one for the NL and one for the AL.

In 55 years, only 16 pitchers have won the Cy Young more than once.  Here they are:
