John Gagliardi, Winningest Coach in College Football History - And He's Still Active (shawnfury.blogspot.com)
College Football is in the air. The 2011 season is well underway, with the vast majority of schools having at least one game under their belts.
Yesterday No. 1 Oklahoma rolled over Tulsa and in the first upset of the early season, South Florida bested 16th-ranked Notre Dame, continuing the Fighting Irish’s multi-year woes.
A few weeks back, Sports List of the Day posted a list of the Winningest Coaches in College Football History (Major Schools). Today is the follow up, requested by a reader.
Here are the Top 20 college football coaches with the most wins, regardless of Division.
Check out No. 1 John Gagliardi – still coaching after 62 years! And there’s ol’ Joe Pa, the leader of the major school coaches, but here he comes in third.
And of course Eddie Robinson, coach of the Grambling State Tigers, who when retired was the winningest coach ever. Today, the Tigers play at Eddie Robinson Stadium.
Active coaches in italics.
