NFL: Current Consecutive Playoff Appearances and Droughts
No wonder the NFL is the most popular and profitable sport in the nation: it’s parity.
You’ve been hearing it for years – the NFL has the most parity of the North American sports, and here’s some more proof.
Only one team has a current consecutive playoff appearance streak greater than three – the Indianapolis Colts – and it looks like that streak is coming to an end.
Only seven of 32 teams have a consecutive streak of more than 1 year. Now that’s something, considering 12 teams make the postseason every year.
In just the last four years (2007-2010), 24 different teams have been in the playoffs: that’s 75% of the teams.
The Houston Texans are the only team with no postseason appearances. Their first season was 2002.
