MLB Redemption: Teams That Lost World Series, Then Won It the Next Year
Thanks to Nelson Cruz’ 10th-inning walk-off grand slam, the Texas Rangers have taken a 2-0 lead over the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS.
Texas lost the World Series last year to the San Francisco Giants. Will this be a year of baseball redemption for Nolan Ryan’s Rangers? If so, it will only be the 15th time in baseball history that a team has come back from losing the World Series to win it the following year.
The New York Yankees have done it seven times. It’s been over 20 years since the last team pulled it off, the Oakland A’s in the 1989 “Earthquake World Series.”
