Kickers with the Most Field Goals in NFL History
A quick one today, straight from pro-football-reference.com. These are the top 25 field goal kickers in NFL history.
Morten Andersen, native of Denmark, leads the way, and I don’t see any of the active guys (bold/italics) catching him. Sebastian Janikowski will catch the top 25, though. The Raiders‘ kicker is sitting in 26th, just seven field goals from Jim Bakken and Fred Cox.
Does Andersen belong in the Pro Football Hall of Fame? What about four-ring Adam Vinatieri? Tough ones. Only one pure placekicker is enshrined in Canton. That’s Jan Stenerud (in 10th below).
Paul Hornung, Les Richter, Lou Groza, George Blanda, Bobby Layne and Doak Walker are the only other “kickers” in the Hall of Fame. They at least played a small part of their careers at the position.
