There are a few NFL MVP or Player of the Year awards out there, but the most official one is the one doled out by the Associated Press.

The AP NFL MVP was first awarded in 1957, to the great Jim Brown.  He won it again in 1958.  Brown is one of only eight players to win the award more than once; he’s the only running back with more than one MVP.  The rest are all QB’s, led by Peyton Manning, the only NFL’er with four.

Peyton Manning 4 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009
Jim Brown 3 1957, 1958, 1964
Johnny Unitas 3 1959, 1964, 1967
Brett Favre 3 1995, 1996, 1997
Joe Montana 2 1989, 1990
Steve Young 2 1992, 1994
Kurt Warner 2 1999, 2001
Tom Brady 2 2007, 2010
