Urban Meyer Named Head Coach of Ohio State Buckeyes: Meyer’s Coaching Record
Urban Meyer has only coached at the college level for 10 years, yet he is already one of the best coaches in history (thanks to his two national championships and 7-1 Bowl record) and also one of the most coveted.
The Ohio State Buckeyes will be announcing Meyer as their next head coach today at a 5:15PM (local time) press conference. Word is it will be a seven-year stint for $40 million (ESPN.com)
Meyer took a year off to both spend time with his family and address concerns over his health, but the lifetime .819 coach (a ridiculous 104-23) couldn’t stay away.
Meyer began his career with the Bowling Green State Falcons with an impressive 17-6 record over two years. He moved on to the Utah Utes for another two years where he went 22-2, including his first bowl appearances and an undefeated 2004, before cementing his legacy with the Florida Gators.
In his six years with the Gators, Meyer went to six major bowls and took the BCS Championship in 2006 and 2008.
