College Basketball: Schools with Most Wooden Awards

The John R. Wooden Award

The John R. Wooden Award (woodenaward.com)

The John R. Wooden Award is given to the season’s best men’s and women’s college basketball players.

UCLA‘s Marques Johnson won the first Wooden award following the 1976-77 season.  Ralph Sampson is the only male player to win the award twice.

In 2004, women first became honored with this prestigious prize.  Duke‘s Alana Beard won it that year.
