Well, everybody’s gearing up for the Super Bowl.  Here at Sports List of the Day, we’ve covered a lot of football playoff and SB topics.  Scroll down to the bottom right and click on “NFL” if you want to check those (or any other sport’s lists)  out – and more Super Bowl lists coming this week…

But there’s another Super Bowl of sorts this month.  It’s the Super Bowl – the biggest race of the year – of NASCAR, which rather irregularly starts the season as opposed to finishing it. It’s the Daytona 500, this year to be held on February 26th.

Technically, the first official 500 mile race at Daytona International Speedway was held in 1959.  Lee Petty, Richard’s father, won that one.

Richard Petty, in turn, has won the most: seven Daytona 500 wins.

Here are the biggest winners in Daytona 500 history.  Eight drivers have won it more than once.  In total, 35 drivers have won the race, so 27 other drivers have won it once.
