Jeremy Lin vs. The NBA: Where Does Lin Rank Amongst the Point Guards?

Is Jeremy Lin One of the Best Point Guards in the League?

Is Jeremy Lin One of the Best Point Guards in the League?

The second half of the NBA season is underway, and Linsanity – version 2.0 – is about to launch.

A true test awaits: Check out Jeremy Lin’s next eight matchups, which include Rookie of the Year leader Kyrie Irving tonight, Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo and Tony Parker.

Following that disaster in Miami, it’s clear the league is catching up to Lin, and Jeremy will need to make the necessary adjustments to up his game – namely dealing with swarming defenses, improving his own defense and adding a little left-handed diversity to his game.

As for now, and despite the Heat loss, the kid is still looking pretty damn good, and should continue to be a major contributor and catalyst for a once-limping New York Knicks team.

Now, I understand it’s just a small sample set against not the best teams, but let’s take a look at how Jeremy Lin’s stats/averages compare with the rest of the point guards around the NBA…

NASCAR 2012 Pre-Season Power Rankings: Top 20 Drivers

Matt Kenseth Celebrates Winning the 2012 Daytona 500

Matt Kenseth Celebrates Winning the 2012 Daytona 500

Matt Kenseth won his second Daytona 500 on Monday night (in some places, early Tuesday morning).  He staved off Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and teammate Greg Biffle, who finished second and third, to take the checkered.

Pretty good race this year, despite Juan Pablo Montoya’s fireball delay and some extra cautions down a stretch that led to a green-white-checkered finish.

Follow all the drivers’ rankings, and their moves, week by week at foxsports’ NASCAR Power Rankings.

Keep an eye on the list below, the pre-season power rankings, and let’s see how the season evolves.

NHL: Detroit Red Wings and Current Team Playoff Streaks and Droughts

The Detroit Red Wings Will Enter the Postseason for the 21st Year in a Row

The Detroit Red Wings Will Enter the Postseason for the 21st Year in a Row

The Detroit Red Wings just set the record for most consecutive wins at home with 23.

They are also owners of the longest current playoff appearance streak – 20 seasons in a row.  If the Red Wings make the postseason in 2012 (which they will), they will tie for the fifth longest playoff appearance streak of all time.

Those San Jose Sharks are next with a current seven consecutive extended seasons.  They are barely hanging on to the seventh slot as of the date of this post.

What about the flip side of the coin?

Which teams are mired in the longest postseason droughts?

It looks like the Florida Panthers will end their streak of 10 years hitting the links early.  They’ve got a good shot at the Southeast this year.

For NHL institutions, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers and New York Islanders, however, things ain’t so peachy.
