Carl Edwards: 2012 Daytona 500 Pole Sitter
Carl Edwards has snagged the pole position for the 2012 Daytona 500, which hits the gas this Sunday at 1PM EST.
Good news for Edwards? Not really. In the 53 runnings of the Daytona 500, only seven drivers (nine times) have taken both the pole and the checkered flag in the same year.
They are: Fireball Roberts (1962), Richard Petty (1966), Cale Yarborough (1968), Buddy Baker (1980), Cale Yarborough (1984), Bill Elliott (1985), Bill Elliott (1987), Jeff Gordon (1999) and Dale Jarrett (2000).
