Indianapolis Colts To Cut Peyton Manning. Where Does He Rank Among All-Time QBs?
Posted by Vin Getz
Wow. We all sort of knew it was coming. Maybe not at first. But the last couple of months certainly painted a clearer picture of what was going on in Indy.
In a saga that rivaled anything Brett Favre could conjure, Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts will at last go their separate ways.
When the news initially, and slowly, broke about Peyton Manning’s neck surgeries in 2011, followed by an annoyingly staggered injury report (missing preseason, then maybe a few games and finally the truth: out for the season), it was still hard to fathom Manning’s Colt career would be over – or even his NFL career.
But as time wore on, and leaked reports regarding a fourth, secret, surgery saw light – along with a spat between Manning and Colts owner Jim Irsay, it became obvious the times, they were a-changin’.
Manning manned the Colts’ helm for all 14 years of his career.
He still wants to play, so expect to see him suit up for another team.
That is going to be one odd look.
Here’s where Peyton Manning’s career stats rank. Does it really have to be said? Manning is, of course, one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. Top 5? Sure, why not.
