Willie Mays Is One of 12 Baseball Players To Hit Four Home Runs in a Game

I’m pretty sure most baseball fans know that the most home runs hit in a single game is four.  Can you imagine if someone had hit five?  Four is amazing, but five would be simply incredible. It’s one of those possible statistical achievements yet to make its way into the record books.

Sixteen players in baseball history have hit four home runs in a game, spanning from Bobby Lowe in 1894 to Josh Hamilton in 2012, with Lou Gehrig, Willie Mays and a few others in between.

Here they all are, in chronological order, thanks to my source baseball-almanac.com.
