MLB: Top 20 Players with the Most Doubles in Baseball History

Tris Speaker Hit More Doubles Than Anyone, Ever

Tris Speaker Hit More Doubles Than Anyone, Ever

Doubles aren’t home runs, but don’t sell them short. Two-baggers are a big deal in baseball – they instantly put runners in scoring position.

And if you look at the top 20 players with the most all time, it’s a list of just about all Hall of Famers.

Only Pete Rose (banned), Craig Biggio (eligible in 2013), Barry Bonds (steroids, eligible in 2013), Luis Gonzalez (eligible in 2014) and Rafael Palmeiro (steroids) are not enshrined.

Tris Speaker has more double than anyone, just short of 800. Charlie Hustle (Rose), Stan “The Man” Musial and Ty Cobb are the only other players with more than 700 career doubles.

Several active players will soon, or eventually, crack the top 20. Todd Helton needs just eight to overtake Charlie Gehringer. Bobby Abreu is just three behind Helton. Both should make it this season.

Further behind are Scott Rolen (507) and Alex Rodriguez (504). Albert Pujols, the youngest contender amongst true actives, sits at 476. If he keeps up his pace (or even, and more likely, a diminishing one) over the length of his 10-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels, he should one day be a 700-double man, at least.

Summer Olympics: Top 10 Divers in History (Most Medals)

Dmitri Sautin of Russia Has the Most Diving Medals

Dmitri Sautin of Russia Has the Most Diving Medals

Who doesn’t enjoy Olympic diving? It’s one of the more popular summer events, and the U.S. represents well – seven of the 20 divers in the top 10 are American.

But Dmitri Sautin of the politically in-between “Unified Team” and post-Communist Russia has eight diving medals, most all time.

Chinese women also make their mark on the all-time greatest Olympic diver list, placing second and third.

Greg Louganis, probably the most well-known American diver, has the most medals for the USA – 5.
