Rajon Rondo and the Most Assists in NBA Playoff History

Magic Johnson may be holding on to one of those so-called “unbreakable” records.

He’s got the most assists in NBA playoff history.

Johnson is the only NBAer with over 2,000 postseason dishes. That’s more than 500 ahead of second-place perennial playoff player (and regular season all-time assists leader), John Stockton. Johnson accumulated this lead despite playing in just eight extra playoff games.

Still active, though aged, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant are all in the top 10, but none will catch up to Magic.

Rajon Rondo has nearly 850 assists in just 5 postseasons, for four of which he was the playoffs’ assists leader. With a little luck, continuing to play at his level and finding himself on consistent playoff contenders, Rondo might come close to Johnson. But catch him? I’m not sure about that one.

Here are the top 20 NBA players with the most postseason assists.
