Texas Rangers Favorites to Win 2012 World Series: All Teams’ Midseason Odds to Win in 2012

Texas Rangers: Third Time's a Charm?

Texas Rangers: Third Time’s a Charm?

Before 2012′s Opening Day, Sports List of the Day investigated who the favorites were to win the World Series this year.

Back then, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Detroit Tigers were the heavy favorites to meet in the World Series, and even in terms of winning it all (6-1).

But things have changed, especially for the Phillies, who, wracked with injuries, look like a team that won’t even make the playoffs out of the hotly contested National League East.

It’s the midpoint of the season, the All-Star Game behind us, we’ve left playful spring behind and now enter the serious summer.

And it’s the Texas Rangers who are now the favorites to win it all, edging out the New York Yankees by half a point.

The Washington Nationals were a 25-1 shot at the opening, but now, they are legitimately in the hunt at 6-1.

Take a look below at all the midseason odds to win the 2012 World Series. Compare them to the Opening Day odds from the original post.

Ah, how things change…and stay the same.
