2012 NCAA College Football Top 25 Preseason Rankings
Football is in the air, especially if you’re a fan of the New York Mets (ahem) or another baseball team on the outside of the playoff picture. The Olympics are done, the NBA free agent frenzy has died down, the majors are over (well, we still have the U.S. Open) and the NHL‘s in a tenuous labor dispute.
The NCAA football season starts Thursday, August 30th and the NFL less than a week later on Wednesday, September 5th.
Today, Sports List of the Day ranks the preseason top 25 college football teams according to the latest USA Today poll*, and it’s LSU, despite not getting the most first place votes, that is the No. 1 school in the land. Alabama, last year’s final No. 1 and BCS champion, had the most first place votes but finished just four preseason points behind LSU.
And how do they come up with those points anyway? Here’s and explanation from the man himself, Jeff Sagarin. Not for the mathematically faint of mind.
