NCAA Football 2012-13: List and Links of Conferences and Schools, Scores and Bowl Schedule

Bowl Championship Series 2013 National Championship Logo

The 2013 BCS National Championship Will Be On Monday, January 7, at Sun Life Stadium

Football is here! It’s the first day of the 2012-13 NCAA College Football Season. Check out all the games and scores today and all season long at ESPN’s College Football Scoreboard.

To celebrate, here are a couple of lists running down the Division I college football conferences and the schools/teams which constitute them. These conferences currently represent (bold, active), or at one time represented (non-bold), the highest level of college football in the country.

Schools from these conferences (and Independents) are the ones that make it to those bowl games come December and January. Here’s the whole BCS bowl schedule for 2012-13, by the way.

Today’s first list sorts all the Division I conferences in history by the year of each one’s founding. Included are either the current team makeup of each conference, or the final composition for defunct conferences. The second list sorts the conferences by straight up age. In both cases, active conferences are bold.

Click on the school for that team’s official home page, but note that some schools no longer support a football program (like the University of Denver’s Pioneers).
