The Biggest Blowout in NFL History: Chicago Bears 73 – Washington Redskins 0

The most brutal and punishing defeat in NFL history occurred in the 1940 Championship Game between the Chicago Bears and the Washington Redskins. The Bears blitzed the ‘Skins 73-0. That’s also the most points ever scored by a team in an NFL game.

Don’t feel too bad for the Redskins, though. That franchise has a 70-point game to its credit, too. They beat the New York Giants 72-41 back in a 1966 regular season contest.

The L.A. Rams are the third, and final, team to break the 70-point barrier.

Beyond that, 24 teams have scored between 60 and 66 points in a game, listed below.

How about my source, pro-football-reference.com, that believe it or not, ranks the scores of every game, including the “AFPA, the AAFC, the AFL, and the NFL.” Check them out.
