The Seattle Seahawks Whupped the Arizona Cardinals 58-0, One of the NFL’s Biggest Shutouts of All Time

The Seattle Seahawks just posted one of the biggest shutouts in NFL history – the 10th biggest – when they summarily dispatched the Arizona Cardinals 58-0 a couple weeks ago.

A score like that is very rare today, despite the NFL’s continuing evolution to  a game of high-scoring air assaults. Perhaps that is why it is difficult to pin a team down to a goose egg.

Most of these regular-season blowouts below occurred back  in the 1920’s and 1930’s.

For a look at the most points scored by a team, shutout or not, including playoff games, take a look at a previous Sports List of the Day post: Top 20 Teams with the Most Points Scored in a Game.

Note: These below are all regular season. In the postseason, there was also a 73-0 game – the biggest shutout ever. You can see that result and others in: Top 20 Teams with the Most Points Scored in a Game.
