NHL: Martin Brodeur and the Top 20 Goalies with the Most Games Played
Posted by Vin Getz
Martin Brodeur achieved yet another historical feat today, becoming the only goalie in NHL history to play in 1,200 games.
Brodeur already holds the record for most games played by a goalie. He and Patrick Roy are the only goalies to play in at least 1,000 games.
Here are the top 20 goalies with the most career games in net.
Well, it’s 21 really – I added current Vancouver Canucks‘ goalie Roberto Luongo, who as of the date of this post will be one game shy of cracking the top 20.
Luongo’s contract goes out through 2018-19. Will he become the third goaltender to play in 1,000 games? It’s possible.
One glaring fact below: Brodeuer is the only goalie on the list to play for just one team, the New Jersey Devils.
