Tony Gonzalez Has the Most Receiving Yards for a Tight End…So Far

Tony Gonzalez is probably the best tight end – or at least offensive tight end – to play the game of football. He’s got quite a lead in receiving yards and will likely break 15,000 in 2013, as a member of Atlanta Falcons.

But the Dallas CowboysJason Witten, if he keeps playing, has a good shot at catching and surpassing Gonzalez. Witten is just over 5,000 yards behind and six years younger.

Career San Diego Charger, Antonio Gates, is still going. He’s only 33, but has suffered with recurring injuries the past few years, letting Witten slip by.

These three active tight ends are three of the top four all-time receivers at the position. Dallas Clark , now of the Baltimore Ravens, is also hanging around in the top 20 below.

UPDATED LIST: Through Week 15 of 2013. Tony Gonzalez has passed 15,000 yards receiving.
