Here’s a sure sign of spring, and the best part too – the beginning. It’s the Masters.

For the first time since his first appearance back in 1995, Tiger Woods will not be playing thanks to recent back surgery.

Lefty, though, will be. It will be Phil Mickelson‘s 22nd trip to Augusta in 2014. Below are all of his Masters’ results (check out Woods’ here).

Mickelson first hit the tour as an amateur in 1988. He won the U.S. Amateur title in 1990. His first Masters in 1991 was also as an amateur – still a student at Arizona State.

Of his 22 Masters, Mickelson (like Woods) missed the cut just once. Remarkable.

He finished third four times before winning his first (and first of five majors) in 2004, at the age of 33.

Now Mickelson’s got three Green Jackets, but uh-oh, the 43-year old had his worst four-day finish yet last year, finishing tied for 54th.

We’ll see tomorrow if things are looking up this time around.
