NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs: Active Skaters with the Most Goals

Jaromir Jagr is the Active NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Goals Leader (2012-13)

Jaromir Jagr is the Active NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Goals Leader (2012-13)

Sports List of the Day has already run down skaters with the most career goals in NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs history.

The Boston BruinsJaromir Jagr is the only active player on that list. Of course, then, he tops today’s list (and by quite a margin – over 20 goals). These are the top 20 active skaters (as of 2012-13) with the most postseason goals.

Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Alex Ovechkin are the only skaters below in their 20′s. On solid franchises (Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Captials), these three could very well become 1-2-3 in actives in not too long a time.

Maybe one or all will catch Jagr’s 78.

Goal statistics are accurate as of the date of this post (May 10, 2013). You can see the 2013 postseason’s goal leaders here.

Teams that made the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs are noted with an asterisk.

Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur and Most Wins (Goalie) in NHL Playoff History

Patrick Roy Has the Most Playoff Wins...and Four Cups, Too

Patrick Roy Has the Most Playoff Wins…and Four Cups, Too

Will Martin Brodeur add to his 113 postseason wins? Not this year, of course. The New Jersey Devils, last season’s Stanley Cup runner-ups, didn’t make the playoffs.

Though the 40-year old (41 this May) missed about a month of the lockout-shortened 2013 season with a back injury, it looks like he wants to come back for at least one more season.

Whether it’s one additional year or more, it is unlikely Brodeur will catch the NHL’s all-time postseason wins leader, Patrick Roy.

Roy and Brodeur are the only goaltenders with 100 postseason wins.

Grant Fuhr, the great Edmonton Oiler goalie of the 1980s, rounds out the top three.

These are the top 20 goalies with the most playoff wins in history. Hey, check out the Pittsburgh PenguinsMarc-Andre Fleury in 20th. The 28-year old will not only pad his stats this postseason, but surely for years to come.

He’s the only other active on the list.

NHL: Top 20 Skaters with the Most Points in Playoff History

Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri and Glenn Anderson of the Great Edmonton Oiler Teams of the 1980s Are the Only Skaters To Record Over 200 Points in the Postseason

Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri and Glenn Anderson of the Great Edmonton Oiler Teams of the 1980s Are the Only Skaters To Record Over 200 Points in the Postseason

Wayne Gretzky has nearly 100 more points in the postseason than second-place (and once fellow teammate) Mark Messier.

These two skaters shared the playoff ice for the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers.

They join two other Oiler teammates, Jari Kurri and Glenn Anderson, as the only skaters to break the 200-point barrier in the postseason.

All four players were members of Edmonton’s 1984, 1985 and 1987 Stanley Cup champi0nship teams.

Someone, though, might break the Oilers’ bloc. Still-active (and about to enter his 17th postseason, this time with the Boston Bruins), Jaromir Jagr is just 11 points away from 200.

And the 41-year old has no intention of retiring following the season. According to the Dallas Morning News, Jagr “doesn’t even think of retirement.”

“When it was noted that Gordie Howe played until he was 51, Jagr laughed. ‘Then make it 52,’ Jagr said.

Hmm. Maybe he’ll catch Gretzky, then.

Not a chance.
