The Big Fundamental, Tim Duncan, Has the Most Blocks in Playoff History. Who’s boring now?

According to Sports List of the Day stats, everybody loves triple-doubles. We checked those out yesterday.

And everybody loves blocks, too, apparently. Let’s look at those today.

We’ve already covered most career blocks in NBA history (regular season) and even saw the leaders in video.

What about the postseason?

Who has the most blocks in NBA playoff history?

It’s Tim Duncan, and he’s still adding to his total.  The San Antonio Spurs (again) are in the  postseason. Duncan surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the all-time lead just last year.

With Rasheed Wallace‘s retirement, Duncan, Pau Gasol and KG are the only actives on the list.

Here are the rest of the top 20. Bunch of tall guys. Hold on…there’s 6’6″ Dr. J. in 11th (and 6’8″ Scottie Pippen towards the bottom).

Blocks are a popular statistical category here at Sports List of the Day. One of the most visited all-time posts is Hakeem Olajuwon and the Most Blocks in NBA History.

What about most blocks in a season? Who is the single-season blocking king? The answer might surprise you.

It’s 7’4″ Mark Eaton of the Utah Jazz. He is waaay ahead of second place – a full 59 blocks more. Eaton is the only NBAer to record over 400 blocks in a season.

Ten players take up the top 20 single-season block marks below, with Eaton appearing five times.

He’s accompanied by the usual suspects: Olajuwon, Manute Bol, Dikembe Mutombo, David Robinson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, amongst others.

One of the more popular NBA posts here at Sports List of the Day is Hakeem Olajuwon and the Most Blocks in NBA History, where we counted down the top 25 players in the category. Blocks are just cool. No?

How about seeing some blocks in action, then? In today’s NBA video feature, take a look at the five most prolific blockers in history. Four of these guys breached the 3,000-block mark, the only ones ever (and for a good long time ahead, too).
