NBA: Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and the Top 20 Players with the Most Points in Playoff History
Posted by Vin Getz
The 2012 NBA playoffs are on…and they are hot, as usual. As of today’s post, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant are leading the 2012 postseason with 32 and 31 point games, respectively.
Neither, though, made yesterday’s list – the top 20 players with the most points in a playoff game. Bryant’s top postseason post is 50 points, while King James’ is 49.
But, Kobe, with his much lengthier playoff experience is third all time in total postseason points. He’s poised to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and then Michael Jordan to become the most prolific postseason point scorer ever.
James should crack the top 20 soon. He stands at 27th, with 2,629 points, just passing Tony Parker on the all-time list tonight in Game 2 against the New York Knicks.
James and Parker are the only actives within earshot of this list, the top 20 players who have scored the most in the postseason. Bryant, Tim Duncan and Dirk Nowitzki are active members.
Just for fun, I added each ballers’ regular season career totals, grand total points (reg. season + playoffs) and percentage of the grand total that came in the postseason.

NBA All-Star Game: Kevin Durant and All the All-Star Game MVPs
Posted by Vin Getz
Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kevin Durant scored 36 points and snagged seven rebounds en route to a 152-149 Western Conference win in today’s NBA All-Star Game, taking home his first All-Star MVP. He joins a list of the best players to ever play the game.
But he’ll really have to pour it on over the course of his career to catch up with Kobe Bryant and Bob Pettit, who each have the most All-Star MVPs, 4.
There have been 61 NBA All-Star Games (every year since 1951, except the lockout cancelled 1999). There are 65 MVPs, though, due to ties in 1959, 1993, 2000 and 2009.
Here’s every NBA All-Star Game MVP, by number of awards. Thanks to my source, basketball-reference.com. See all the MVPs by year and their game stats here.

NBA: Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant and Ballers with the Most Points in a Single Game
Posted by Vin Getz
It just so happens that the NBA‘s 60-point barrier has been breached 60 times.
Here are all the occasions an NBAer has scored 60 points or more in a single basketball game. Twenty individual players have reached the milestone.
Wilt Chamberlain, of course, is famous for his 100-point game. That was against the New York Knicks in 1962. That record may seem unbreakable, but Kobe Bryant almost got there in 2006, when he dropped 81 against the Toronto Raptors.
Chamberlain has scored 60 points or more 32 times. Bryant is next, 5 times. Then it’s Michael Jordan at 4 and Elgin Baylor at 3. They are the only players to do it more than once.
