NBA: Tim Duncan and Players with the Most Blocks in Playoff History
Posted by Vin Getz
According to Sports List of the Day stats, everybody loves triple-doubles. We checked those out yesterday.
And everybody loves blocks, too, apparently. Let’s look at those today.
We’ve already covered most career blocks in NBA history (regular season) and even saw the leaders in video.
What about the postseason?
Who has the most blocks in NBA playoff history?
It’s Tim Duncan, and he’s still adding to his total. The San Antonio Spurs (again) are in the postseason. Duncan surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the all-time lead just last year.
With Rasheed Wallace‘s retirement, Duncan, Pau Gasol and KG are the only actives on the list.
Here are the rest of the top 20. Bunch of tall guys. Hold on…there’s 6’6″ Dr. J. in 11th (and 6’8″ Scottie Pippen towards the bottom).

NBA: Players with the Most Triple-Doubles in Playoff History
Posted by Vin Getz
Everybody loves triple-doubles, especially Magic Johnson. He has, by far, the most in playoff history – 30.
Active New York Knick Jason Kidd places a distant second with 11. His triple-double days seem behind him, though.
Both also feature on the all-time regular season list – second and third, respectively.
Check out Rajon Rondo already tied for third with fellow Boston Celtic Larry Bird. Before long, Rondo will surpass Kidd. But Magic? That will be very tough. I’m not saying this record is unbreakable, but it will be tough.
| PLAYER | TRIPLE-DOUBLES | |
| 1. | Magic Johnson | 30 |
| 2. | Jason Kidd | 11 |
| 3. | Larry Bird | 10 |
| 3. | Rajon Rondo | 10 |

NHL: Hockey Teams with the Most Playoff Appearances
Posted by Vin Getz
The Montreal Canadiens, naturally, have the most postseason appearances of any hockey franchise, to go along with their most Stanley Cups.
They are the New York Yankees of the NHL. Or is it the other way around? Depends on who you ask, I guess.
Anyway, to level the, er, ice surface, there are two lists today.
First, the straight up ranking of franchises by most playoff appearances.
But that’s a little unfair. The Canadiens have been playing for 94 years, while a very successful team like the latest version of the Ottawa Senators has only been around for 19.
In fact, the Canadiens have been in the postseason almost four times as many years as the Senators have been in existence. Or nearly twice as many years as classic teams like the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins have been hitting the ice.
So, a second list below – one that ranks each franchise by the percentage of its existence it made it to the postseason.
Look at that. The Canadiens win again. But the rest of the list gets shaken up quite a bit.
