Animal Kingdom will not be the first horse in 33 years to win the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing, as Shackleford went on to win the 2011 Preakness Stakes with a time of 1:56.27. Astrology came in third. For a list of all the results and payouts and the full story, click here.

The Preakness Stakes began in 1873, two years before the Kentucky Derby, but a length of 1 and 3/16 mile was formalized in 1925.
