Reggie Wayne and Receivers with Over 1,000 Career Receptions (and the Top 20 All Time)

Reggie Wayne Has Cracked the 1,000 Reception Mark

Reggie Wayne Has Cracked the 1,000-Reception Ceiling

Tonight on Monday Night Football, Reggie Wayne became the ninth player in NFL history to record over 1,000 receptions, joining once-teammate Marvin Harrison (who is third all time, just one reception ahead of recent Hall of Fame inductee Cris Carter).

Wayne and Harrison can thank Peyton Manning for that.

Jerry Rice, though (of course), has the most receptions ever – over 1,500.

And look at the surprise in second: still (barely) active tight end, Tony Gonzalez, who has caught over 1,200 balls.

Tim Brown, Terrell Owens, Isaac Bruce and Hines Ward round out the nine players with over 1,000 receptions. Quite the select club.

Then, here’s the rest – the top 20 players with the most career receptions.

I made it 21 today because active Dallas Cowboys‘ tight end, Jason Witten, should crack the list this season. He and the Houston TexansAndre Johnson (31- and 32-years old respectively) have shots at the 1,000-catch plateau. We’ll have to keep an eye on them over the next few seasons.
