2013-14 NCAA College Basketball Preseason Rankings: Top 25

The 2013-14 Kentucky Wildcats Are the Preseason Favorites

The 2013-14 Kentucky Wildcats Are the Preseason Favorites

The Kentucky Wildcats, who finished out of the top 25 with a 21-10 regular season record last year – one year after winning it all, are the favorites once again. The first AP Poll of the 2013-14 season has Kentucky at the top.

Michigan State also made a leap – not as great. The Spartans finished ninth at the end of the regular season, but are now ranked second going into the new year.

The Louisville Cardinals, last year’s tournament champs, and the Michigan Wolverines, last year’s runner-ups, are ranked third and seventh, respectively, heading in. That sounds like a rematch could be possible. Remote, but possible.

Here’s the whole AP preseason top 25 for 2013-14 with a look back at each school’s final rankings (per the end of the regular season / before the big tourney).

And below that, a quick look at those teams that dropped out of the rankings over the offseason. Georgetown Hoyas, again? They’ve been getting short shrift lately in the preseason polls – but they always find their way into the mix by season’s end. We’ll see.
