The 2013 Dallas Cowboys Have Yielded Over 600 Yards Twice

The 2013 Dallas Cowboys Have Yielded Over 600 Yards Twice

How bad is that Dallas Cowboys defense this season? Bad. So bad, they gave up 625 yards to the New Orleans Saints tonight on Sunday Night Football. Earlier this year, they yielded another 623 to the Detroit Lions.

That makes two of the worst defensive performances, in terms of total yards yielded, in NFL history. The 2013 Cowboys are the only individual team to appear twice amongst the top 20 below. Now that’s bad.

Today’s list is that top 20, led by the only team to give up over 700 yards – the 1951 New York Yanks. The 1950 Yanks also make an appearance. No wonder that franchise lasted only three seasons, unlike their baseball counterparts.

By the way – you’ve probably already noticed – this list doubles as the top 20 teams with the most total yards in a game.

  1. Ironic that just a season ago, it was the Saints with a god-awful defense while Rob Ryan was DC of Dallas. Now, the Cowboys have a god-awful defense while Rob Ryan is DC in New Orleans.
