NBA 2013-14: Team Payrolls and Salary Cap Hits

The Most Expensive Team In The NBA: The Brooklyn Nets

The Most Expensive Team In The NBA: The Brooklyn Nets

Time for Sports List of the Day‘s annual installment of the NBA‘s team payrolls and their (mostly over) salary cap hits. Only five teams are under the $58.679M 2013-14 cap – that’s one less than last season.

Here are all the payrolls, divided first by division, then sorted overall.

The Brooklyn Nets, thanks in some part to their offseason acquisitions Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce – but also to their other bloated contracts in Deron Williams, Joe Johnson (and Brook Lopez, but not as much), have the highest payroll in the NBA, supplanting last year’s Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers have dropped to fifth.

The Nets’ crossriver rivals, the New York Knicks, are a distant second – $13 million off the pace.

The back-to-back champs are third.

Click on any of the teams below to get the full salary and contract breakdown for their players.
