Derek Jeter, New York Yankees Legend, Is Calling It A Career After 2014

Derek Jeter has announced his retirement following the 2014 season. It will be sad to see one of the greatest ballplayers of our time (and all time) retire.

And where does he rank amongst the greatest New York Yankees? Top 10 for sure. Top five? Take a look at the below – add in all those intangibles and amazing defensive plays – and decide for yourself.

Jeter is the all-time Yankees leader in eight categories, including games, at bats, hits, singles and – yup – even stolen bases. How about that?

If he stays on the field, this upcoming season will see him become the Yankees’ all-time leader in doubles (needs 10) and possibly even runs scored (needs 84), as well.

Separately, he leads all players (not just Yankees) in nine postseason categories.

The five-time champion and 3,000-hit man should be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. In fact, Sports Illustrated says it’s “no doubt.”

Below find Derek Jeter’s career rankings amongst the Yankees’ statistical leaders. He’s up there in pretty much everything that counts (and strikeouts, too).
