Georgetown, UConn and Schools with the Most Big East Conference Tournament Championships
The Villanova Wildcats will not be getting their second Big East Tournament title in 2013-14. The favorites and No. 3 team in the country – once in the running for an overall No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament – were beaten at the buzzer today by unranked, now 17-16, uber-underdog Seton Hall.
The Bluejays and Musketeers, recent additions to the conference, are looking for their first Big East titles. The Friars, members of the Big East since its inception in 1979-80, are looking for their second.
Neither Connecticut nor Georgetown will pad their title stats. Both have won the most Big East Tournaments, seven, but the Huskies are now a part of the brand-new AAC (American Athletic Conference) and the Hoyas were just bounced in Round 1 by DePaul.
