There are a few awards handed out at the end of every FIFA World Cup, including the “Boot” awards. Most world football fans are familiar with the Golden Boot – given to that Cup’s top goal scorer. (There’s also the Silver Boot and Bronze Boot, granted to each Cup’s second- and third-best scorers).

Brazil, which holds the majority of individual and team World Cup records, also has the most Golden Boot winners with five, including Ronaldo of the 2002 championship team.

Germany is next with three, including the last two GB winners, Miroslav Klose and Thomas Mueller, both of whom are playing in the 2014 World Cup.

Four other countries have two winners and nine others are proud enough to claim one.

Here’s an odd note: only five Golden Booters also saw their teams take home the Cup, noted with asterisks.
