FIFA World Cup: Host Nation Results (1930-2014)
Brazil bit the dust today in the worst thrashing a host nation has ever received at the FIFA World Cup. A shockingly dominant German squad vanquished Brazil in the Semi-finals 7-1, a six-goal slaughter.
Don’t feel too bad for the Brazilians (but yes, it hurts – and all but one team will feel that way, and carry it four years at least) – they hold just about all the World Cup historical records, including most Cups (five).
Below is a look at how every host performed in each of the World Cups.
There have been 20 editions. Six hosts won it all. Two others made it to the Finals, but lost.
