Yesterday, Sports List of the Day broke down all the ALCS winners, along with providing a little history of the road to the pennant.

Today, it’s the National League’s – and the NLCS‘s – turn.

As expected, the St. Louis Cardinals rule the roost (just as the New York Yankees rule the ALCS). These two teams have the most World Series appearances and titles overall.

Those poor Chicago Cubs again – nary an NLCS pennant. They join the Washington Nationals (including the Montreal Expos years) and the American League’s Seattle Mariners as the only three franchises that have failed to make it to the World Series during the Championship Series era (1969-Present). The Milwaukee Brewers did win an ALCS, when they played in the American League.
