Baseball Teams with Undefeated (Perfect) Postseasons

The 1976 Cincinnati Reds: Only Team With An Undefeated Postseason In The Playoffs Era

The Kansas City Royals are 7-0 this postseason and a win away from the World Series. If they win out, the Royals will join how many teams with undefeated postseasons?

There are two answers: a very, very short one and a slightly longer, technical one.

Since the first playoff rounds were introduced in 1969 (NLCS and ALCS), only one team ever has gone perfectly through the postseason: the 1976 Cincinnati Reds swept the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS and then swept the New York Yankees in the World Series.

Before that, any sweep in the World Series would have to be considered an undefeated postseason. That happened 12 times before 1969. So the longer answer? Thirteen teams in total have had perfect records in the postseason.
