Will Odell Beckham Jr. Become The New York Giants’ First Offensive Rookie Of The Year – And Only The Ninth NFL Wide Receiver?

The New York Giants might just get their first Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2014. Wide receiver phenom Odell Beckham Jr. has been lighting up the NFL – and then there’s that catch, too (video here).

Beckham heads several OROY watches after climbing ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ WR Mike Evans – but Evans has both more receiving yards and touchdowns and might just wind up becoming the Bucs’ third OROY.

Like the Giants, another nine teams have no OROY to their credit.

On the flip side, the Minnesota Vikings have had five, most of all, followed closely by the Detroit Lions with four – the last, Barry Sanders in 1989.

As for position, it’s a runaway – running backs all the way (32 of 47* or 68 percent). But there’s been a recent run on quarterbacks. Only seven have ever won offensive rookie honors, but six of those in the past 10 years.
