The NBA All-Star Game Will Be Played At Madison Square Garden And Hosted By The New York Knicks For The Fifth Time

Three franchises have hosted the NBA All-Star Game a record five times, including 2015’s host, the New York Knicks.

It only makes sense Hollywood be up there: the Los Angeles Lakers have hosted the ASG five times, too.

The third franchise – and one big on the board in 2014-15 – split their five hosting stints between two cities: the Hawks hosted it three times early on in St. Louis and twice more in Atlanta.

So, the next natural question might be: What about the Boston Celtics? Well, they’re next with four hosting gigs – but, believe it or not, it’s been over 50 years since the last one (1964).

Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets, also a host four times, just hosted in 2006 and 2013. What the?

Twenty-eight of the 30 current franchises have hosted. Only the Memphis Grizzlies, and surprisingly, the Portland Trail Blazers have not. And technically neither have the Sacramento Kings and Oklahoma City Thunder, who only hosted in their former cities.

Today, as we get ready for the NBA’s All-Star Game (long) Weekend, take a look at all the host teams, cities and arenas. I tracked down all the moves for ya and scrunched it into ranked totals.

It’s the Knicks, New York City and Madison Square Garden at the top in all three cases (though there have been two MSGs, so you can give Boston its due on the arenas list if you prefer).
