NCAA Basketball: Kentucky and Schools with the Most SEC Tournament Championships

Kentucky Just Won Its 29th SEC Tournament Title

Kentucky has more SEC Tournament titles than any other team in the conference, by a landslide.

And today, the Wildcats padded their lead to nearly five times second place Alabama, who hasn’t done it for 25 years now.

Kentucky has won the tourney 29 times (and lost the final game 10 times, too).

The SEC tournament has been around since the 1932-33 season. It’s the second oldest of all conference tournaments, behind the Southern, which has hosted one continuously for almost 100 years (1920-21).

The Southeastern Conference did not host a tournament in 1934-35 and between 1952-53 and 1977-78.

Today, there are 14 schools in the SEC. Eleven of them have won at least one tournament, listed below. Missouri and Texas A&M, who joined the conference in 2012-13, have yet to win one, along with South Carolina (a member since 1991-92).

Georgia Tech won one back in 1937-38, but the Yellow Jackets went independent in 1963-64 and have been members of the ACC since 1979-80.

And, as we’ve been noting with all the conference tournament posts, just where is the SEC’s headquarters located? Birmingham, Alabama.
