NBA: Cleveland Cavaliers and Eastern Conference Finals Sweeps

LeBron James Led The 2014-15 Cleveland Cavaliers To The Fifth Sweep In Eastern Conference Finals History

Since the NBA divided itself into Eastern and Western Conferences with the 1970-71 season, only five teams out of the East have swept their conference’s Finals, and LeBron James‘ 2014-15 Cleveland Cavaliers are the fifth.

Larry Bird‘s Boston Celtics did it in 1985-86.

Two of Michael Jordan‘s six titles with the Chicago Bulls were preceded by Eastern Conference Finals sweeps.

And the most unlikely team on today’s list? Jason Kidd‘s 2002-03 New Jersey Nets swept the Detroit Pistons (the only team to be swept more than once in the ECF).

One more thing about the Bulls. They were actually swept in the Western Conference Finals once upon a time.

Check out the nine WCF sweeps tomorrow.

SEASON WINNER LOSER
1. 1985-86 Boston Celtics Milwaukee Bucks
2. 1990-91 Chicago Bulls Detroit Pistons
3. 1995-96 Chicago Bulls Orlando Magic
4. 2002-03 New Jersey Nets Detroit Pistons
5. 2014-15 Cleveland Cavaliers Atlanta Hawks
