Carlos Beltran and Players with 300 Home Runs and 300 Stolen Bases
Here’s a rather surprisingly short list with a couple surprises of its own.
Carlos Beltran is amongst the only eight players EVER in baseball history to achieve apparently the ultimate in combining speed and power: banging at least 300 career home runs and thieving 300 career stolen bases with it.
Beltran joins fellow active – and current teammate – Alex Rodriguez.
Roid rangers Barry Bonds and Rodriguez are one-two on this list (sorted by home runs), but they very possibly would have made this particular list without them anyway.
This is a recent thing. Seven of the eight players posting this double-double played sometime in the 1980’s or later. The only abstainer? Well, the great Willie Mays.
Most of these guys are power hitters with a secondary strength in stealing bases. Only journeymen Bobby Bonds (eight teams) and Steve Finley (eight teams, too) had more SBs than HRs.
